The kind of worshipers the Father Seeks
In John 4:23-24 Jesus tells us: "Yet
a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the
Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father
seeks. God is spirit, and His worshipers must worship in spirit and
in truth.
You know that feeling when the light
bulb goes on in your head and you finally realize something; I mean really
understand something that seems to have been so simple all along? I had one of
those instant moments occur to me this summer.
I was teaching at a worship
conference and had that intense pull to get some alone time with God. I poured
over Psalm 51 and asked the Holy Spirit to completely wash every bit of
"me" out of my body so that my "temple of the Holy Spirit"
would be clean. Before I taught others, I wanted be purified from the stench of
self-centeredness, pride and personal knowledge. I felt Him wash over my mind,
heart, body and make a clean sweep within me. So much peace, joy and His
righteousness flooded my soul.
As I then began to go over my
teaching notes for one of the classes, it hit me, Bam! The Bible never states
that God is looking for dancers. No where! He is looking for humble people who
passionately love Him. He is looking for worshipers who will truly worship Him,
not put on a show but worship Him with their whole lives. Dance is an expression
of our worship. Pretty simple but the stark reality of it really grabbed me.
So often in my life I have had to
defend dance ministry and have at times elevated it to be at such a level of
importance in ministry that I lost sight of the first priority- the worship of
God, focusing instead on ministering with dance. The truth is I shouldn’t
dance because that is my gifting. I shouldn’t dance because I have been given
the right as a dance minister. I shouldn’t dance because others expect it of
me. I must dance because I am hopelessly, passionately, overwhelmingly in love
with Jesus. The incredible freedom and joy that is found in Him causes me to
rejoice as my eyes are locked in a captivated gaze on the lover of my soul. As
for dance, it is one of my means of outward expression for my inward passion.
Through this time of communion with God ministry naturally (organically)
happens: the bound set free, the sick healed, break through in intercession,
prophetic release, spiritual blind eyes see and people experience God’s
goodness, freedom, joy and love.
God is looking for worshipers who
worship in truth (in reality, being real, who I really am). He wants us to
worship Him in the style and as the person He created us to be, no imitations.
Let’s endeavor to stay away from conforming to the image or style of a person
in ministry we saw or liked and discover the unique and glorious plans and
purposes God has for each of us . Keep it real! Make it your worship.

God created you in
His image
God created you in His
image. You are a reflection of God, His creativity and ability. He has written
His purpose for you on your very heart. As children we could see the purposes
much more clearly. We dreamed great and glorious things for our lives and we
pretended they were true. Then life happened. Many of us lost our vision, our
dreams, our passions, our purpose for life, our joy. God wants you to overcome
the obstacles and distractions of life. His desire is for you to grab hold of
those dreams and visions again. He wants you to fulfill your purpose. Find that
dream; He wrote it on your heart when He created you.

Here are some books that Dawn recommends
Bob Sorge has many wonderful
books that open the eyes about worship, walking through difficult times, and
intimacy with the Lord. They are all great! For dance ministry, I specifically
recommend:
Dealing With Rejection and
Praise of Man - We all will deal with both aspects as we walk in the
ministry. How we react and deal with them is very important.
Envy - Oh, yes. We
have all been there. "Why does she get to do that...", "I think I
could do it better", or "With that dancer being so good, there's no
room for me". Everyone in ministry must fight this beast. Get the book and
pass it around.

Waking the Dead - by John
Eldridge and
The Power and Purpose of God's
Glory in You - by Dr. Myles Munroe
You were created
for a purpose. Your DNA is filled with God's glory and the earth groans to see
it revealed in you. These Books will open your eyes, fill your heart and
encourage you to a life of glory beyond your dreams.
Rekindled Flame - by Steve
Fry - This will ignite your passion for Jesus as well as give
some foundational understanding into different acts of worship.
